Elbow, wrist and knuckle discomfort anyone?

I know this pain is from bf'ing because that's the only time I really hold him in a cradle type hold, head in crook of my arm, wrists bent in and fingers, from the knuckles, bent in. My knuckles feel bruised and my wrists and elbows just feel strained, weak and sometimes like I need to crack them which I've never had before. I'm concerned as ds is only 4 and half months and is just going to keep getting heavier. I nurse him to sleep for about 15-40 mins depending on hunger and sleepiness.
Does anyone else have this problem? Am I doing a bf'ing faux pas in the way I hold him?

I remember having a lot of wrist and lower arm pain when we were first BFing, but the muscles must have gotten stronger over time. The pain went away within a month. If your LO is now 4months and you are experiencing this much pain, perhaps you should speak with your doc about seeing if it could be carpal tunnel (sp) or something more serious.

I can't quite picture how you are holding him but I would consult with someone like a chiropractor to help you find new ways to hold him that are better for your health.

Have you tried a nursing pillow or maybe a sling to take some weight off your arms?

Could it be carpel tunnel? I suffer from this, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I have a 5 month old and this is how we nurse. I sit on the couch and have my legs either crossed or as a figure 4( so there is a hole in the middle) Ds has his head in the crook of my arm and his body is being supported with my legs. The arm that he is laying on, I don't bend my wrist or fingers, they just lightly support his back so he doesn't roll off.
