Re: D&C Question... UPDATE - LIKELY M/C

Amy. I'm really so sorry you are going through this. If you want the remains tested, then you should have a D&C. However, since there is no baby they may not be able to tell you much. I have m/c twice and both times, there was no baby just an empty sac. It's very different m/c'ing just a sac. However, my 2nd m/c I was 8.4wks along and it was like labor- I had contractions, heavy bleeding, pain. It was a little scary since we were several hundred miles from the nearest Navy Dr and I was afraid that I was losing too much blood. Everything was fine though.

I've never had a D&C, I'm a little afraid of them honestly. I wish you peace and hope you can heal quickly.

Re: D&C Question... UPDATE - LIKELY M/C

I haven't read all the replies, so forgive me if this has already been suggested.
When I have a patient with a possible miscarriage, I always get serial HCG levels...it is much more helpful to look at US findings in light of HCG levels.
If you have a viable pregnancy, your HCG levels will double every 72 hours. If they do not double, or if they are dropping, then it is diagnostic of an unviable pregnancy.
