I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm wondering how I should feel about this and I think this is the most appropriate place. I received some free items as part of a giveaway from an HC site. I received 3 items from different WAHMs. I don't want to be non appreciative BUT these items are kinda like seconds. The one item has a stitching and fabric flaw that's very obvious. The jewelry I got isn't put together right and I can't even wear it. The third item is custom dyed yarn which is nice and the only thing that's not flawed. this was a total gift so anything is better than nothing but how would you feel if you received flawed goods as a gift? If I wanted it fixed, I'd have to send it back, probably pay for postage there so I'd be out a some money. WWYD?

I wouldn't do anything. You can FFS the first two if you think someone else would like them or just use them knowing they were (basically) free.
Since you like the yarn, would you have paid the total amount for just the yarn? I say have the yarn knitted up into something and maybe that'll make you feel a little better =)

Are you able to "re-do" the first 2??? If the one with stitching & fabric flaw are obvious, can you use it at home only? And remember, what may be obvious to you, will probably not be obvious to the general public. Most people don't pay that much attention.
I would think maybe the jewelry can be used for an older child to play with (dress-up maybe) or can you take it apart and make it into something else?
I would definitely contact the HC site and let them know about the quality of the 2 items, unless it was stated in the listing that they were 'seconds' or flawed.

I'd be really disappointed, in total honesty. I know that a lot of moms will say, it's free, why should you expect perfect? Moms rarely get a treat such as this, and if I were a wahm I would want the products I give out free to be perfect and speak so highly of my work that you couln't NOT rave about me and come back to purchase some more, kwim? I hear about this a LOT and it really bothers me. If you wouldn't gift it to your best friend, please don't give it as a gift to another mom!
I would ffs them if you can't fix them, having things around from a disappointing transaction brings up bad feelings for me every time I see them. I agree w/a pp, work up the yarn into something pretty!

Unless these items were specefied as damaged goods, I would also be very unhappy. Businesses have giveaways as an advertisement, not to get rid of their junk. I'm sorry you had a bad experience though.

This is how I kinda feel too. I"m not sure how the contest prizes were arranged, but there are 3 winners. First prize got a lot more stuff obviously. I was second and received 3 items. There were not seconds or flawed items. They were suppose to be special gifts picked out for me. Anyway, I just wanted to see how you mamas would feel about this. Although these items were FREE, I was still a bit disappointed when they came flawed.
