If I am PG, should I stay away from the rollercoasters?

Ok, I feel so stupid but we have a season pass to a rollercoaster park and Brian and I have a friend watching our 4 children this weekend and we have been DYING to go to this park all season long just us and this was the day we are suppose to go.

Now, he doesn't know I am possibly expecting and it's too early to test and I am a bit nervous about going if the rides may possibly do damage, KWIM?

Can somebody answer this question for me? I am feeling rather stupid for asking, like it's a no brainer but I have never had to ask this one before with my other PG's.

At this point, it should be fine. Later, you should avoid it. As your pregnancy progresses, your body produces more relaxin (a homone that softens joints and allows your body to make room for your growing uterus) and that puts you at greater risk for injuries. Also, the bigger you get, the harder it is to fit you into the harness. You should probably avoid it after the first couple months.

Ya, that is smart for later. I am concerned about right now, being so newly (possibly) PG. I am thinking that maybe a trip to the beach is better

Now that I look at my title, it seems a no brainer: Pregnant and rollercoasters DO NOT MIX! But I am just unsure about the velocity of some rides but then again, being PG and the first tri-mester and braving a ride or two sounds like tons of throwing up is in order

I would think that if it's too early to test, then you should be fine unless you're feeling some pregnancy symptoms (like what you just said with the throwing up). If it was me... I'd go enjoy the daylights out of the rollercoasters.
Hope you have a great weekend regardless of what ya'll decide to do!!!

Re: If I am PG, should I stay away from the rollercoasters?

I had NO CLUE that I was preggo, but when I was preggo with Emily, I went to Six Flags two days before I tested and she turned out OK. (and I thought it was the roller coasters making me puke ) I think you'd be fine. If you're worried, then don't go on the rides, but I think you'd be fine to go

HAVE FUN! And enjoy some alone time with your hubby. That sounds like a blast!

Re: If I am PG, should I stay away from the rollercoasters?

I actually asked my doc about this, and he said that it was just fine...just to make sure that the harness didn't push on my belly too much. He was a high risk doc too. I was 5 months along at that point.

Honestly, I didn't ride them at all, but I did do a few of the milder water rides with tubes. But...I was 5 months and had already "popped".

Since you would be so early, I can't imagine why you couldn't.

The roller coasters *do* usually have signs that say not to ride if you are pregnant but we went to Six Flags (before I knew I was PG) and I rode every coaster in the park. I didn't get hurt... and yeah, Bram does have a "condition" but that's genetic and has nothing to do with roller coasters.

I wouldn't worry about it until later in the pregnancy. Then you need to worry about rides that jolt you too much b/c they can cause placental abruption.

Ok thank you ladies! I am now tossing around the idea of going to the beach. the one we go to is very quiet and I am going to take a PG test that morning so cross your fingers that it's a BFP for me so I can tell him in privacy, away from crowds and we can just have a quiet afternoon of reflection

If not, maybe the coasters
