Re: Mamas who have lo's with sensory issues~can you help me?

both of my boys have sensory issues

They both are bothered by tags and waist bands. They wear overalls a lot and that seems to be helpful. DS1 is 7 and I have to take him undie shopping ever so often and let him touch the waist bands of the undies in the store to see if they meet his approval and we also buy them a little big. They have both mentioned their clothes feeling wet before but it was because they they were cold (I never thought of putting the clothes in the dryer though....I may need to try that)

Dori had the same problem for quite awhile, I found that Hanes makes undies that have a cloth covered waistband, also have you tried going a sized larger so they're a little looser? Our friends' son didn't wear jeans til he was almost 15. Sweat pants and soft shorts were his entire wardrobe. Dori wore soft legging pants til she was 8 and then we had to use stretchy jeans and just this year she is regular jeans, but now we have the issue of bras. Instead of panties, what about shorts? Like the stretchy cottony ones they sell at WalMart? That was our alternative for awhile.

My DD has SID so I know the frustration you feel.. You may try the Fruit of the Loom cover waist bands.. DD is only 15 months old but she is like that with tags. My DH tuck the pinkie edge of his sock in where the seem is on the toe. Does that make since.?I hope you find something that works. What kinds of fabric is she complaining of. My DD OT for sesory, her daughter has it too, she will onthe wear Gymborie.... the texture of the clothing seems much softer. PM if you have questions mama!

Thanks for the tips! I got some Hanna unders and they are working well. My girls have a lot of Gymboree, I love the cotton. We do bike shorts, but any waistband bugs her if it isn't just "so". She is constantly adjusting it. Now I just need to get some good socks!

The short ankle cut socks work best for us, I buy them at Costco and they come in lots of colors so dd approves. They have soft edges and they tend to kind of meet with the edge of the shoes as well so she doesn't seem to mind them as much. HTH

Patrick rarely wears his underwear as the waistband bugs him!

Hang in there mama!
