Increasing supply

Between extra hours at work and VERY sore nipples from a lazy latch my supply has gone down....I know I can take Fenugreek and I've heard Alfalfa works really well too. Do you think it would hurt to take both?

Re: Increasing supply

Maybe just start with one, and move into the other if you are not getting results you like?

Also, try pumping after each feed for at least 10 minutes.

Re: Increasing supply

It will not hurt you to take both at the same time, but I agree with pp try one first. You can also try Mothers Milk tea, and or Oatmeal.

Re: Increasing supply

For me, drinking a lot of water and eating oatmeal increased my supply. Also, try to add a 10 minute pumping session right after you nurse.

No pump so that's out. I could never afford one.

I'm getting fenugreek tonight though so I'll try that first and see how it goes - thanks mommas.

You could rent one for much cheaper and you'll probably only need it for a bit!

If you have a local W.I.C office and you qualify they can give you one.

You could try Blessed Thistle, too. That's relatively inexpensive and works well.

I take a "mama's milk" tincture homemade by a mama here on DS. It's got Goat's Rue, Fenugreek, Blessed Thistle, Fennel Seed, Marshmallow Root and one or two others I'm forgetting in it. Works beautifully!
