Anybody "trade in" diapers

I see that some stores offer this option - trading in you old diapers and then getting the larger size for a cheaper price. Has anyone done this? Is it worth it?

i haven't done it personally - although i know what you're talking about. the main things that have generally held me back from considering something like that are it's generally limited to a fairly small selection of larger brands (FBs, etc.). i really like to have a variety of diapers (both styles and brands) personally. and i've seen so many posts about people really liking saying KL Os for a nb but not really caring for the size 1 or 2s for older kids. plus i know my system has changed at least once with DD and i expect that i may encounter the same thing with subsequent kids, so i don't really want to lock myself in to a particular systems of diapers.

as for whether it's worth it - what percentage value are they giving you on the used diapers? i'm assuming it's not a trade in your used diaper, get a new diaper free deal. so the advantage would be a guaranteed rate of return on a used diaper and that you'd definitely have someone to take it. but would you get the same or more selling it yourself?

I've never even seen that offered! I'd definitely look into it personally. But it depends on if I could sell my dipes for more than they were willing to trade out for.

I accept trade-ins on dipes. It all depends on the condition.

I like the bigger brands, but any well-made dipe in good condition is fine with me.

I give up to 30% towards a new dipe for my store credit.

I looked into it a bit last month, and it seems like you could sell your dipes online for at least the same price and usually for MORE than what you'd get as a trade-in.

I have done it. I did it at www.thenaturalmotheringshop.com . I traded in a moby wrap and some HH and got 50% of retail for them. That is what I bought my new thirsties stuff with.

I offer 30% off trade in on mine too. Haven't had many people take me up on it. But I do offer it.

I think it's beneficial for those who don't want to be bothered with auctions. You can't disagree that auctioning is stressful.

It's also expensive to list items (if you protect your investment with reserves etc) and for shipping (additional protection against the "I never got my package" BS)

Seriously, if I didn't need to make some mad money somehow, selling stuff would be the LAST thing I'd do!!
