every time I put a BG on him he gets these fuzzis on his bum, and it looks shiny... and it looks like there is sand or something in there... weird..

Yes, he's sensitive to suedecloth if his bum is shiny every time. I'd get rid of the bg or at least use them sparingly.

My kids have the same problems. They have similar problems with fleece

Yep, my daughter has this same issue. And if she wears one for too long, her little butt gets all red and irritated for a few hours. I realized this AFTER buying a ton of diapers with suedecloth (sigh). So now Im trading them all in for fleece.

Us too, dd's bum gets super red and shinny.

We got rid of all ours as well. Stick w/ the fleece!

Us, too. I ran out of clean FBs the other day (bad mommy), and tried his old BG (which we only used once because they didn't really fit his fat thighs when he was younger). The next morning he woke up with that same red shiney tush

Poor babies!!! (mine and yours!)
