dyeing prefolds

okay so i'm wanting to make a rainbow in my prefold drawer after seeing all these beautiful prefolds!!! i have the unbleached but i've heard they still dye nicely, just not as bright. so i'm prepared and know they won't come out like bleached ones.

but i want to know the cheapest/best way to dye them!!!
does koolaid work with them? or do i need to use dylon or rit?
with the koolaid how do i do it? and if i need to use dylon (or another tell me tell me!!!) do i just follow the directions on the pack or is there another way? also where do i buy dylon (or the other dyes)???????

try the rainbow rock tie dye kits you find at wal-mart they work great and you get a bunch of different colors

Don't use Rit. I tried that once. It made a GIAGANTIC mess - the diapers bled die for a long time!!

Dylon is found in our local crafts stores (michael's, joanne's, etc..) Rainbow rock also worked for me (the tie die kits). Dharma dyes are nice, you can get them online.

I'm pretty sure koolaid doesn't work for prefolds.

i actually saw the rainbow rock kit last week and almost got it!!! LOL!!! oh well at least i know where to look! so do i just follow the instructions in there, or is it different for dipes?

DONT use rit or kool aide neither will work!

the dylon dye works AWESOME!! ive gone blue green and red so far. per package you can get about 4 pfs, anymore then that and the colors come out pasetely like!

if you do the tye dye just rubber band, then soak in the soda ash (cant remember how long) mix the dye and squirt it on! it so easy..
