Gender Neutral ?

This is sorta a dumb question. Would you consider the color melon to be GN? I'm asking because I put a diaper with a melon color inner on my son today and DH said, "Is that pink?!" I said no, it's melon. Silly conversation ensued and I said I would ask you gals what you thought.

And why can't boys wear pink anyway? It would save me on hunting for clothes for him. I have lots of pink from his older sisters.

I got a melon kissaluvs and I have to admit, I was a little taken aback by how pink it was. However, once I got used to it, it looks a lot more like a melon than a pink, and DS wears it all the time. However, I also put purple and magenta on him so I don't know if my opinion counts!

I have a melon diaper for my DS, but I also have lavendar so I don't know if my opinion will count either.

I think if you are going to put it w/ something more masculine it will seem more boyish.

Take yellow for instance, if you see something yellow/ bugs or frogs doesn't it make you think boy but if you see yellow w/ butterflies you think girl. So I think it is all in the way the outfit is put together. But I have to say my DH would never go for a melon or lavendar on his son. Good thing we only have girls, LOL.

Colors are for everyone!
Taste the rainbow!
(Ok, I'm in a silly mood tonight, but in all seriousness, I think the color/gender thing is silly. Almost as silly as associating "pretty" things with girls while boys get plain or sports or "rough" stuff.)
But I don't think even more conservative moms and dads would necessarily say that melon was "girly". The melon AIO I had was more orange than pink.

I have a melon PUL diaper and love the color--think it is very GN. I'm not sure if it is the same color as what you are describing. My DH thinks dark purple is ok for a boy and all other colors except for pinks and lavenders.

Sounds pretty gender neutral to me... But I'm with Heather. I hate the color/gender thing too... I wouldn't put a dipe on him that's blazing princesses and glitter, but we have been known to put stuff on him that has at least a little pink in it.

Re: Gender Neutral ?

i think it's fine.

I have to admit, though, I put pretty much every and any color on my dd, and I often try to avoid pink, b/c I'm so tired of it.

Re: Gender Neutral ?

we have a melon bum-ware AIO and it is more orange to me- looks very GN IMO but could be a different color than you are talking about.
