how do you use soakers?

what i mean is, can they be worn under pants? i can totally see how they would be fabulous under dresses, but i would think it could get quite bulky under say, jeans. what about compression leaks? does that happen much? im thinking specifically about interlock soakers, though also the "regular" ones too.

sorry if this is a stupid question. its just something i have been wondering about, especially when im browsing the fsot and see a super cute soaker i would love to have but don't know how to use it!

Re: how do you use soakers?

We used to use interlock soakers under pants, it can be a bit fluffy depending on what diaper is underneath the soaker, but it worked for us! We very rarely had problems with compression leaks.

Re: how do you use soakers?

DD wears interlock and crochet soakers under clothes with no problems. As long as she's changed regularly we have no leaking. As far as trim, I've found pfs and wool to be our trimmest diaper.

I was going to mention what the pp said - you probably couldn't get away with them sitting in a soaking diaper for hours lol - that would cause the compression leaks. I bet it would depend on the soaker material, too - a nice thick recycled soaker would be practically bulletproof!

I've always gotten compression leaks not to mention the bulk with either wool or fleece......if I need something under clothes I do a g diaper cover or Gasp......a kushies cover.

Re: how do you use soakers?

We haven't tried to use our soakers under clothes because they are just so gosh darn cute, but I would second the idea that if you kiddo didn't have a super wet diaper, you probably wouldn't get much compression wetness. (and even if you did, it probably wouldn't really be a leak as much as just slight dampness. Wool can hold a LOT.

Re: how do you use soakers?

We've used our fleece soakers under loose fitting clothes (like overalls) but if we're going with jeans or other pants then we usually use our pockets. But we've been using a lot of wool (soakers & otherwise) as THE clothes rather than putting them under something.

Re: how do you use soakers?

I just plan to take my baby out in just a t-shirt and his diaper. LOL I think fleece and wool covers are cute enough to pass for pants and perfectly acceptable. I have even taken DS out in a t-shirt with a pocket change diaper. DH agrees and says "It doesnt LOOK like a diaper" With it being so hot here, I put as little on them as possible. If we were going somewhere that required real clothes like say a wedding, I would think the soakers would fit fine under regular clothes and shouldnt leak if changed often enough.
