Re: Are 3D/4D ultrasounds worth the extra money?

I wouldn't do it. Especially since it has no medical basis. Personally, and this is just me, I don't understand what the rush is? You will literally see your baby with your own eyes in a matter of months why not relish in the mystery and sacredness of the bonding that you can accomplish without seeing your little one? Besides, if it does turn out that these ultrasounds do pose a danger you will not want that heavy burden on your heart that you opted to do one without any medical basis, for enjoyment purposes only.

Here is a link of one article that addresses the possibility that ultrasounds may be dangerous.

ours was worth the money. we paid $200 and that got us a whole hour a dvd of the ultrasound all the pictures we wanted printed all the pictures on a disk and we got to watch it on a big screen tv. its totally different then the reg black and white ones. it makes it more real.

I had one done with both children and it was worth it, 10 fold! It was an amazing bonding experience, I got to look at their sweet faces every day before they were born and know what to expect when they got there. I was already bonded from the minute I got my BFP, to the first kicks, and even the little bean looking baby on my first u/s but nothing beat my 4D ultrasound, it was so amazing!

I say no. I had them with both kiddos, and neither one could you see anything cute - all blobs and stuff. It all depends on how they are positioned at the time. I would have been really disappointed if it cost me more.

If there was something medically related that they could see better with it, then maybe it might be worth it, but for the nostalgia of it, no.

We saw ours on a big screen projector too. Which DD thought was the COOLEST thing ever. She kept saying "biiiiiiiiig baby" LOL

Dan and I talked about getting one done - Honestly, we decided that it just was not worth the money.....

Re: Are 3D/4D ultrasounds worth the extra money?

I had one! It was my mom's gift to me as she didn't get to have an ultrasound when she was pregnant with me and she wanted to see my baby in 3D. I don't know if I could have afforded it but I absolutely love the pictures and they'll be so cute in his baby book. I didn't have one with my DD but her baby book has so many other neat things from her being the first baby that I wanted him to have something special too.

i think they're cool, i like the idea. but i wouldn't do it myself. i've never really had the desire to. i don't mind waiting, especially since i've already had two ultrasounds done.

Re: Are 3D/4D ultrasounds worth the extra money?

Had one done with our DD about 7 weeks after our 18 week US (our only medically requested one). It was very much worth it for us. Daddy hadn't been connected to the baby too much, and this really helped. I also hadn't really felt pregnant, so it really felt amazing to have proof that there really was someone in there.
