Will diapers "keep" for the next baby.

I wanted to keep the diapers I am using now for the baby on the way. But I have heard some people keeping them only to pull them out with shot elastic. Does anyone know if this will happen? Is there a way to store them so this wouldn't happen?

Thanks!

I have kept all my diapers from my last child for this next baby... (same age dif as your children.) I have had no problems so far.

Thumbs up Re: Will diapers "keep" for the next baby.

IMO as long as they are kept in normal living temps (not the attic or damp basement) They should be fine. I have some that I used with my DD#2 who just turned 7 and I have gotten them out to "try again" with cloth for our next baby (#5). My covers are okay.

I skipped cloth in between because I didn't have good info or know anything about what I was doing. LOL Bleach, Of course-that gets rid of stains and odor, fabric softner-of course, they need to be soft AND I was using the gerber prefolds!! I am now a much more educated mama!

So far, all my diaper have "kept" just fine. I agree - as long you don't cook them in an attic they should be fine.. I'm not sure I'd wait 10 years in between, though. We have some hand-me-down stuff (ok, maybe more than 10 years old???) that the elastic is starting to get funny, though.

If you have kissaluvs, not sure I would keep those. I have heard a lot about crunchy elastic when they sit too long? But I haven't done it personally so I don't really know.

Great advice, huh??

I plan on keeping the ones that I have that worked well for us for the next baby we have.
