Re: DD refusing to bowel train! Advice PLEASE!

My DD did the same thing. She would ask to go and then tell me it was stuck because she was afraid to push it out. What I did was everyday after I got home from work (I was working as a teacher at the time) we would strip her down and put her potty chair in front of her dollhouse and just have her sit on that and play with her dolls. One day she just forgot she was on the potty and relaxed enough to go. A few more times of that and she was more comfortable about trying to go and has been accident free ever since.

I would say make sure her feet are firmly placed on something. Having your feet dangle is not conducive to pooping....you try it I agree with find something to do while she's in there so she doesn't focus on "I have to poop but I want to play". HTH GL

Re: DD refusing to bowel train! Advice PLEASE!

My ds seems to have the problem of relaxing enough to go. It is almost a nightly ritual to put him to bed and within a half-hour have him needing a change.

I like the idea of giving him a toy he can only have on the toilet, but the timing of his bm is bad. We already struggle getting him to go to bed...the last thing I want to do is encourage him to sit on the toilet from 8pm - 9...waiting for him to poo. What can be done about changing his body's routine?

I think you will just have to change your routine and not the BM. DD's just change over time. Maybe after you have dinner you guys can play an active game outside (soccer etc) or go for a walk and maybe that will get things to go. He probably just starts relaxing then. GL

I have the same problem with timing. DD's seems to change from day to day so I can't even predict it any more.

My son used to refuse to poo in the potty, we could never figure out why. I just waited and one day he had diahreea (sp?) and he couldn't hold it in when sitting on the potty. He quickly discovered it was ok to poo in the potty after that.

Had great advice so far. DD is getting more independent with using the potty. Has started taking herself. Still waiting for the rest to click!
