Okay. So I tried pinning an Ipf and using a cover.

It was my first time. It came out HUGE and the leg gussets were ginormous. I had to use the biggest cover I have (we're sort of between M and L, normally). Is that normal? Dd was actually very patient while I attempted not stabbing her. Will it get easier? Is there a way to make it more trim?

did look like that?? what i do for trimness and to hold in pees is lay it flat roll the sides in and do a reverse angel fold...does that make sense? it really seems to help with the bulkness.

It takes a little practice. What I do for looseness is hold it so it almost looks like it'd be too tight, my fingers between the dipe and the baby and pin. I poke myself almost every time. I'm by no means an expert. Once it's pinned and you let go it loosens a bit.

i'll get a pic of him in the angel fold at next change but here he is in a bikini. i don't think it's bulky or loose at all either way. but i use snappis not pins so that may make a different i dunno.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I get it. A reverse. Okay. So the top folded on the outside of the dipe, not the inside? I'll have to keep trying. There's a few days for a learning curve, right???????

Well I have some snappis coming in the mail today and I'll keep trying. For now she's in a Sw OCV as we're about to go out.

Re: Okay. So I tried pinning an Ipf and using a cover.

I like to fold plenty of excess down in the back, so that the rise isn't too big. I think the trick to getting a nice, trim snug fit is to pull really, really snug before you pin. Like what you would think would be too tight, because when you remove your fingers from between the diaper and your baby it will loosen up just the right amount and not be too tight. Also, slide the pin through your hair close to your scalp just before pinning, and the pin will glide easily though the diaper. You also only need to catch just the very top layer of prefold instead of having to pin all the way through... not much danger of poking anyone that way.

Here's a couple of pics of my dd in pinned premium IPFs...

Re: Okay. So I tried pinning an Ipf and using a cover.

I am having that same problem as well. I just got pins this weekend and I am having a heck of a time getting them to actually go through the prefold! Unfortunately, ds is soooo wiggly and so practicing is out of the question. I really want to work on it though....I like the look of it!

Re: Okay. So I tried pinning an Ipf and using a cover.

Actually, we only tri-fold when using a cover-it looks trimmer to me and is much faster.

Without a cover, I've found that we get a much snugger fit with pins or snaps, but sometimes I still use a snappi (just for variety!)
