My pinning diapers just do NOT look like everyone else's... can someone give me really specific step-by-step pics? I just feel like I'm not doing it right (at all).

There are some step by step instructions with pics in the link below. I prefer to fold down the excess in back first before laying the prefold under my dd, because it takes the bulk off the front tummy area which makes for a more trim fit. For my ds I kept the excess in front, though, since that's where he wet the heaviest. Either way works great. Just remember to fold down plenty of excess and pull the wings really, really snug before you pin for a nice tight fit. There is a little learning curve, but with practice it gets super easy.

I'm having trouble with the pins, but would love to use them for coverless time rather than the dangerous snappis.
Those are good instructions above for the pf, but I'm wondering how you actually push the pin through without sticking the baby. I've tried keeping them in a bar of soap and even then its a little difficult.
