Diaper Swappers

Hi, my DS is 21 months and will sit on the potty while I read him books, but he won't pee in it. Shortly after he gets off the potty he will pee on the floor.

Any ideas on what I can do to help him pee in the potty? (We have a little one that he sits on). Should I have him help me clean up his pee?

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Is he old enough to make it an aiming game? They have floating flushable potty targets for little boys at Babies R Us. I don't have a boy, and I'm not PL'ing my dd yet, but I thought I'd try a suggestion!

Interested in any ideas that would work for a girl, as dd1 does this too....

When my ds1 was 24 months we used a reward - 1 teeny tiny candy for a pee in the potty. Worked wonders! He was pretty consistent and without diapers after 48 hours of starting.

I ended up getting some Organic Fruit Snacks from Costco - that I give him for sitting on the potty (regardless of the result)...and now he will actually sit on the potty...but has only peed there 1x...but he told me pee-pee before we sat him on the potty, so I am hoping that he might be learning the feeling of having to pee....crossing my fingers.

ds1 is the exact same. he can sit on the potty all day and not pee and then once he gets off, he pees. DH says it's because he's a MAN and he wants to pee standing up. I say he just likes peeing on the floor.

Anyway, I realized he does like peeing standing up and right next to our coffee table. So I bought an extra potty to put under there. Anytime he stands there looking like he's gotta go, I casually walk over there and use my foot to bring out the potty and hope he pees in it. For us, I think it will just take him once to pee in there to realize that pee goes in the potty and not on the floor. Wish us luck.
