How soon does milk change after conception?

I was just wondering if anyone knows how soon my nursing toddler would be able to taste a change if possible, if I was to get pregnant?

I don't *know* for sure... but the one thing I do hear more often than not is sometime after the 2nd trimester is when "they" think it may be more likely to happen as thats when many todlers wean themselves. Now whether it's due to change in taste OR if it's due to a drop in supply, I'm not sure...

This is what I have heard too. Also it seems to vary from woman to woman.

I got pregnant w/ dd3 when dd2 was 10 months old. She nursed through her 13th month and I never noticed if she tasted anything different. I don't think she did.

Your milk dries up somewhere between 16-20 weeks on average. Colostrum is produced after that and could start as early as 22 weeks. That would probably be the only noticeable change in taste.

I believe my dried up around 18 wks, when I was pregnant w/ DD#2, then a couple months later it changed to colostrum.

i've heard midway through pregnancy, but all women are diff. of course. I nursed DD until I was 13 weeks, and it seems like I had a drop in my supply, but that could also have been because we were weaning.

My dd knew before I did. She was exclusively bf and never took a bottle, she loved the boob! I became pg when she was 15 months and she completly weaned herself. I was heartbroken. Then I found out I was preggo 2 weeks later.

Re: How soon does milk change after conception?

My ds was 15mo when I got pg. and he was exclusively bf'd also. He began to lose interest when I entered 2nd trimester wether from reduced supply or taste change I'm not sure. Before that he was a very avid nurser, so I'm sure it was because of pg.
