The thrush is back...........

The only difference is that this time I think it was DS that started it- not me! I'm still on the stupid no sugar diet and taking my supplements, so it's just barely burning for me. Hoping we can head it off before it gets bad. Doing GV and nystatin on ds.

Re: The thrush is back...........

My ds is 8 mos old and we have been battling thrush since he was a week old At this point, I take probiotics several times a day and use an over the counter yeast infection ointment on me when it gets real bad. It is always there, but some days are worse than others.

At it's worse, I was so worried I would have to give up BFing, as my nipples were cracked and bleeding- I could only nurse him with nipple shields (thank goodness for those, as that is what made nursing bearable).

No advice, just commiserating

oh mama I feel your pain......litterally, my son and I battled with thrush for 4 months before I actually realized what it was and got meds....it's been good for about 3 weeks now, sometimes I get a slight twinge of pain but it's gone for the time being but now I am having supply issues (unrelated to thrush) but just another thing to battle.

Awe, mamma, I'm so so sorry. I know this is just one more kick in the pants for you. Maybe you WILL cut it off at the pass this time and it won't be bad at all! I'll pray that it is.

Re: The thrush is back...........

I'm sorry. I know how bad that sucks. I got it with Kyan and didn't think it would ever go away. I use to just sob every time it got close to time to feed him. I would just bawl the entire time we were nursing. The GV worked on him but not me. I ended up having to do a course of diflucan and never got it again.

When my oldest son was a baby he used to get thrush bad all the time. I had a old time doc. She recommended we use Milk of Magnessia (SP?)....Just swab a little in the mouth once or twice a day till gone. It only takes a couple days. I have never had to use anything else ever.
About a month ago I used it again on my youngest, worked like a charm.

interesting, that'sone I've not heard yet. Isn't M.O.M for constipation?

I tried nystatin and got diarrhea dna screaming baby and it didn't go away. With gv I got purple stained everything and it didn't completely go away. Diflucan gave us zero side effects, thrush was gone in two days and never came back. I also was very careful about bras, nursing pads etc I used GFSE in a spray bottle on my brasa and in the wash.

Re: The thrush is back...........

nystantin never worked for me at all, but it worked for the infant and we would just reinfect her. We battled it for 3 1/2 months and ended our bf relationship real early. Thank goodness I never had that problem with dd2 and we have been going 8 1/2 months and no problems. I also have a low sugar diet as well because I don't ever want that again.
