GRRRR!! Dr Rant

We are such a bottle feeding culture. I went to see a new rheumatologist today (after much research on meds and finding out my original rheumatologist doesn't take my new insurance, grrr again). I told him I hadn't been on meds since I got pregnant. Told him my daughter was only 9 months old. He didn't even bother to ask if we were still nursing. I didn't volunteer it. I know he needs to be educated, just not sure I'm up to the fight right now cause I hurt and just want to feel better.

However, I am seriously thinking about buying Dr. Hale's book for all my doctors. I think it ought to be required to be in every doctor's library that treats women of child bearing age. Had I (or my doctors) known what I know now, I could have avoided several months of alot of pain. Oh well at least I found out before any permanent damage was done (I think).

Rant over, thanks for reading,
Amy

So sorry!! I totally agree about Hale's book being a requirement for all doctors.

I agree 100%. I was told to pump and dump for a week for a simple antibiotic! I was really shocked that the doc was so ignorant.

can I third that!! I don't work with adults right now but boy does it annoy me that almost everyone has no idea about medications and mothers milk!! I love that book at the ped hosp I used to work at we had it and I thought it was awesome.. if only doctors who take care of nursing mothers would have it around more!!!
