? about PL

My DD is almost 18 months and has been pooping in the potty for about a week now. She knows what the potty is and when she acts like she has to go I ask her if she needs to go sit on the potty. She will then go to the potty and sit on it. My question is "Is this me knowing when she needs to go or is she in the process of potty training?" I'm a first time mom and don't really know what I'm doing with this. I was asking because we use cloth diapers and I ordered more and now am thinking about canceling our order. What do you guys think is this to early to tell or are we on to something.

Definitely not too early! That's exactly the time that my little girl was potty trained. Even if it is more you taking her, or knowing when to go, that is still teaching her where to go! I know that Natalie wouldn't have been as successful using the potty if I wasn't the one bringing her in to it half the time. She didn't start telling me on a consistent basis until about 21 months.

I think if she's into it, and willing to go for it...I say concentrate more on learning the potty than diapering! Good luck!

That's how they learn to recognize everything that goes with potty! My DS was potty learned at 18 months but didn't tell me he needed to potty until he was about 28 months old!

So would you keep using diapers or would you switch to some kind of trainer? If so which kind?

i think that either are going to be fine as long as she can feel the wetness. Personally i like the fact that i'm prompted more the change a trainer right away, because it only holds so much, where as with a diaper, I feel like I can wait until i'm finished with what i'm doing beore I change her, therefore reinforcing what I don't want to.
