MOLD! HELP!!!

Hello everyone. I can't believe this happened. I went to the diaper pail today and....MOLD. Mold on my diapers!!!

I read somewhere that Oxyclean helps get mold out of diapers. Any tips? I am kicing myself for letting this happen, I always try to take such good care of my diapers.

Please help!!!

black mold won't come off, even with boiling. OC works with green though, I have used it on some dish towels.

Re: MOLD! HELP!!!

I haven't had mold on dipes before but I have had it happen to cloths that sat in the hamper under a wet washcloth. I soaked them in hot, hot water with Oxyclean and the mold disappeared completely, black mold. I would suggest Oxyclean; it might take a couple of soakings, I did mine twice overnight. Make sure you rinse them out really well afterwards.

Good luck!

Re: MOLD! HELP!!!

ITA with PP, I've had black mold on some of DS's shirts & burp cloths that had spitup on them, and soaking them in hot with Oxyclean a time or two finally got rid of it. The thing is, it's not good to soak PUL dipes, but you can't use them molded, so...

If you got desperate you could also try a little bleach in the wash or a bleach pen on the few spots on white fabric. I've had to do this on his clothes that got like that.

Re: MOLD! HELP!!!

Okay, on my second wash with Oxy Clean...now I'm letting them sit on hot hot hot hot hot.

Between this, my toddler going totally bonkers in the grocery store and the realization that our new house has NO DIRECT SUN to sun out a few of my diapers....ACK.

I'm going to hold out hope.

Try boiling them like you would a prefold. I have some and oxyclean in hot hot water then letting them soak overnight got some of it out. It was actually all in my inserts too-- hemp and microfiber ones. I am going to start separating them from the pockets before I put them in the pail.
