Cloth diapering right after circumcision?
Hope this question is ok here since it relates to cloth . . .
I'm due soon with a baby boy, and hubby and I have been having the circumsicion debate. All controversy aside, can anyone give me advice about using cloth with a newly circumcized baby in the event we do decide to do it? I've heard that with sposies, it helps to put vaseline on the baby to prevent rubbing against the diaper, but with cloth, the vaseline would stain. Would I need to out anything since cloth is more gentle than a disposable? I want to use cloth right from the start, so I want to be prepared if we circumcize. I wasn't sure if I'd need a barrier between him and the diaper to keep him from getting irritated.

Re: Cloth diapering right after circumcision?
couldn't you use a fleece liner? I only have a girl now but not sure what #2 will be, but i'm assuming you could use a fleece liner-- that's probably what we would use.

Re: Cloth diapering right after circumcision?
We just dealt with this... I used fleece liners inside his fitteds/prefolds and made sure I put them loosely there... so that we could still use the vaseline (don't snappi the last leg for a week or so if prefolding)... and we didn't have any problems. HTH.

Re: Cloth diapering right after circumcision?
If you need a barrier I would buy a half yard of fleece and cut it up to just lay inside. Then you can throw them away without needing to worry about washing them or anything. I can't imagine that using cloth for a circ would be any worse than sposies? They've being do circs for much longer than sposies have been around anyways. Oh, and with a fleece liner shouldn't it help as a stay-dry barrier too... maybe a little more comfy on the little guys bits afterwards?

Re: Cloth diapering right after circumcision?
I think no matter what it will be very irritated. I'm sick even thinking of giving advice on this subject.
I'd do everything in my power to protect my child from circumcision. |

Re: Cloth diapering right after circumcision?
first off, ignore any "hate responses" as you are the parent and it is YOUR choice. Don't listen to scare tactics.
Anyway, I am dealing with this now. My son is almost 8 mths old, though. He had some adhesions because the doc didnt take off enough skin. We had to have that corrected this past friday - he was/is a total trooper even though its quite different than when done as a newborn. newborns its pretty simple. I am putting vaseline on it and just covering it with a washcloth. its working well for me so far. Ive used sposies on a circ and MUCH prefer the cloth. just use a barrier and it'll be fine
