What does your 2 yr old say? Any 2-3+ word sentences?

Evie is 26 months old and can talk your ear off. There's nothing the child won't try to say, which is a stark contrast from when Emmit was this age. He was a late talker...a boy of few words at this age.

My son is 20 months and just starting to put some words together. I have been able to understand him for months now, but I am with him more. No one else could understand him and now they can. He can say a lot of words. But just in the last month or so can put some together like a sentence. Do not compare your child to others. All children are different. My oldest son was talking really early and at 2 could tell you anything you wanted to know about dinosaurs!

I swear my older dd did not talk forever and was barely putting 2 words together by the time she was 2. She has alway been within the range of normal and one day she just started talking like any other kid all of the sudden. Kids are funny like that so try not to compare! I know it's hard, but he's fine

I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat. My 24 month old doesn't say much at all and we are working on geting her speech therapy. Unfortunatley living in Fairbanks, Ak we are really limited w/our resources. She can repeat a lot of what I say but her spontanious speech is quite limited. I get frustrated b/c I see her frustration when she can't communicate what she's trying to say.

Sounds like your little one is right on track. Age 2 is when they should start pairing words together 2 make 2 and 3 word phrases/sentences. Good job mama!

My 2.5yr old says huge-o sentences.....I think in part to her older brother talking 24/7.

Its cute, I swear one day she woke up and started saying big sentences!

Ethan is 2 years, 4 months. He'll say things like:
Mommy broke the coffee ( I broke the coffee pot LOL)
Daddy has a new one (LOL I went out and bought him a new coffee maker - Ethan thought it was hillarious)
Mommy read it?
time to take a nap!
Sit n' mommy? (that means "sit on mommy's lap)
Go outside?
Stay and play!
go to the park
peel the banana
pee in the potty (he only does this before bath)
more milk please

so its mostly 2-3 words, sometimes 4 - the other day I left my coffee cup near the computer by accident and he totally surpriesd me and said, 'I spilled the coffee". LOL I wasn't upset that he spilled it but it shocked me that he said that whole sentence!

DS is 28 mo. old, and speaks in full sentences, and has for a few months. But, he is lagging a bit on gross motor skills (he can't really jump well, or throw very well). Our ped isn't concerned -- she says that kids often focus on one skill set and lag for a while on another, and eventually catch up in the area where they were previously lagging. We're not that surprised that he's a verbal kid, since DW teaches English and I'm working on my PhD in history -- i.e. we're kind of nerdy. DS is part of the control group for a neurological study on preemies, and they measure verbal, gross, and fine motor skills at various ages up to 2 years. At his 2 year appointment, they said he was speaking at the level of a 3.5 - 4 year old. Also, we still have to "interpret/translate" for people who don't spend lots of time with him.

It sounds like your DS is right where he should be!
