It took me awhile to be able to find it and recognize it-- but yes, you can. I got mine for $12 on eBay-- It's a huge piece of mind....

I think it's wonderful, and if it tells you that your baby is doing well, that's all that matters! Have fun with it mama!!!

Feel free to tell your DH that I rented one for $22 a month at 3 months. I'm now 8 months along and I still have it! I thought I'd send it back as soon as I felt regular movement, but obviously I didn't.

Plus, since I rented it I can't even resell it!

Me too! And even though I was high risk, everything that made me high risk had nothing to do with the pregnancy itself, just risks to the baby afterward. However, I was REALLY paranoid until I reached the 30 week mark, anyways. (I watched too much Disc Health ) Really though its just so comforting to be able to fall asleep listening to the baby's heartbeat!

I plan on getting one with the next pregnancy, but then again, I'm doing a UP/UC, so I'd need it. lol But I don't think you're crazy at all. Hey, I might even buy it from you when you're done! lol

What a great idea!! Why didn't I think of getting one of those? I, too, have suffered through going to the dr. for the first time and there was no heartbeat---peace of mind is worth every, stinkin' penny.

Cool I got one of those things that is like a stethiscope (sp?) and it sucked for me. I think I am too fat. I could hear my heartbeat really good though...

You're certainly not crazy. My baby is pretty quiet that I wouldn't mind just checking on him everyday.
