Re: Anyone exclusively pumping?

Yay, mamas!! I epumped for 13 months--I had to have surgery when DD was 4 weeks old and DH fed her breastmilk in a bottle while I pumped and dumped and she would NEVER go back to the breast. We fought and fought forever it seemed like, then I decided it was important for her to get my milk no matter how she got it. My Pump in Style was my nearest and dearest friend too! I had almost 5 gallons in the freezer when I stopped pumping. Hard work, but worth every second.

We overcame the oral aversion by six months, now she's just straight up stubborn when it comes to solids. I plan on pumping for 4-5 years, I'm yeilding 140-145oz per day! My daughter drinks the fresh milk and the rest goes to donation which so far has been over ninety five thousand ounces! I feel like pumping just gets easier and easier as time passes, it definitely has it's rewards

145oz!?!? You're awesome mama!!!!

Re: Anyone exclusively pumping?

I'm currently at almost 5 months for my DD who has a cleft of her soft palate. She'll be having surgery to correct it at 9 months of age so I'm SO hoping that she'll be able to nurse afterwards! She does nurse now but doesn't have the suck strength to get hardly any from me. I figure if I keep her interested, we might have a chance!
I get about 45oz a day and have been freezing the excess and now have @2000oz in the freezer. I've only given her frozen milk a handful of times and should be giving her a little more to rotate the stock but just can't bring myself to give her frozen when she CAN have fresh...so what am I gonna do with all this frozen?!

Re: Anyone exclusively pumping?

Use it to thin your homemade baby food when your DD is ready to eat solids! I did that with some of my freezer stash and it worked wonderfully.

Re: Anyone exclusively pumping?

I EP'ed for 4 months with my DD due to her being in the NICU for 3 months. I EP'ed for 3 weeks with my DS while he was in the NICU. Once he was home I only had to pump for another week until he was completely on the breast. He is still nursing now at almost 2 years old.

Way to go to ALL of you dedicated Mamas that pump for your babies! It is a very time consuming yet rewarding thing to do.

Wow - it is so nice to know that a bunch of others are in the same boat as I am

So share your best pumping tips and your best supply boosting tips.

Maybe we should get this thread stickied at the top.... How do we do that??

Re: Anyone exclusively pumping?

I tried to pump in the same place, same times every day. I had my pump in the living room beside my comfy leather chair. It worked for me! I was super relaxed and it really helped my production. My body became conditioned to the pump just like it would to my baby--when I washed the cones and bottles, my milk would let down as soon as I touched the cones! Has this happened to anyone else? My EBF friends thought it was hilarious.

Re: Anyone exclusively pumping?

My friend pumped for her twins until 1 year. Her doctor told her that he had never met someone that exclusively pumped for twins that long!!!!

What a mama!!!
