Question letdown question

When I start nursing my baby ( 13 days old) the breast lets-down and flows pretty fast. But my other breast lets down as well , and soaks me if I'm not prepared.

Is that normal?

Re: letdown question

Yes, its totally normal. Your body is still adjusting to how much milk it needs to make, so it will slow down a bit eventually. I remember soaking through many nursing pads on the unused side at the beginning.

totally normal. my other breast always lets down when I'm feeding. I just make sure I'm wearing a nursing pad and I'm fine.

Re: letdown question

Yes, normal. I undo both sides of my bra and lay a cloth diaper over my other side to keep my clothes dry--a breast pad just doesn't cut it sometimes.

I would let down so forcefully that my baby would choke on his side, and nursing pads did nothing to contain the flow on the other side. I eventually used a sposie to catch the flow, and that did pretty well on the unused side. Baby got used to getting sprayed in the face, so all i did there was just clean up after the damage was done. Your body is just trying to regulate right now, and soon it won't be an issue anymore.

Re: letdown question

Yup, totally normal. For me it took about 3-4months until I was not leaking like crazy. Often I would sleep with a towel under me, so I would not constantly leak onto my sheets (allowed me to air out the ladies, which felt so good after a day of many nursing pads)
