Anterior Placenta, Past c-section, and wanting to have VBAC
So my doctor just told me I have an anterior placenta, meaning it's on the front of my uterus by my tummy. I have to have another ultrasound in 8 weeks to see if it's grown into my scar. My biggest concern, other than that, is wanting to do a VBAC and if that might cause any complications. Has anyone had this before with a previous c-section and had a successful VBAC, or did they tell you that they should do a c-section instead of try for VBAC? Any info would help--of course I'll talk to my doctor more about that but she might just want to wait until after the 2nd ultrasound

Re: Anterior Placenta, Past c-section, and wanting to have VBAC
Hmm I've never had a c/s, but did have an anterior placenta my last baby, it never was a problem. I would think a repeat c/s would be more dangerous than a vbac in that situation. Wouldn't they have to cut through the placenta, cutting off baby's oxygen supply, to get baby out? Maybe I'm wrong on that but that's what it would seem like to me, if that's true all the more reason to vbac! GL!

Re: Anterior Placenta, Past c-section, and wanting to have VBAC
The reason it is more dangerous w/ prior c/s is b/c it can adhear to your scar on the inside.
I am not sure at that point how they would remove the placenta IF it did attach ![]() But, it has plenty of time to move up so try not to worry about that yet. I'd try to get my next u/s as far into the 3rd as possible to give it time. What may make it difficult is that the HB is harder to pick up making a vbac in a hospital more of a risk for another c/s b/c they can't pick up the hr, kwim? I'd be more affraid of a c/s b/c your placenta is going to possibly be right where they are making the incision... I say go for the VBAC!!

I have had 6 HB's and have not known whether I had anterior placenta or not.
