:huggy: Mama. Why do they think the baby will be so big? My ob thought my dd was going to be a huge baby and scheduled me a for a repeat c/s and she was only 7lb7oz....so who knows! Good luck mama!

Re: Seriously...yes my baby will be BIG. =)

Yeah, just tell them all to chill.
My dd was born 10 days past the due date and she was 7lbs 13oz
My dd was born 5 days before the due date and he was 8lbs 7oz (and the mws swore that he was going to be a small...like barely 7lb baby)

What makes me sad is that the medical community has convinced so many women that large babies or babies with "big heads" are impossible to birth v@ginally. Um...like a previous poster said, babies are squishy and are meant to fit through the birth canal.

Hang in there mama. I'm glad to see you're with a mw who should be fairly chill about this.

Re: Seriously...yes my baby will be BIG. =)

My MW told me with my oldest maybe an 8 lb'r. Yeah, she was 9.5 lbs and 23" but I only pushed for 20 min. My other two were just over 7lbs and it took each of them 5 pushes. So I really didn't have any problems with pushing any of them, even the big one. HOwever my biggest baby was also my shortest labor at 8 hours, the other two were 13+ hours.
When I went for an ultrasound after I hit 40 wks the tech thought he had the wrong chart because he didn't have anyone listed to be there today who was having "twins" I could have cried. Everyone told me I was so big and I must be having twins and not know it. It got kinda frustrating, but was cool when all the nurses had to come see the "BIG" baby. I actually think it had more to do with her lenth than weight, and the fact that they couldn't squeeze her into NB dipes and I had to bring my own from home.
She's my skinniest now!
Big babies are just fine, My mom had none under 9 lbs, I was over 10 and my sister just shy of 10 and she was 5' and 100 lbs! Anyone can have a big baby if they have the hips for it, some people can't even pass a 6lb'r.
Take pride in those big baby birthing hips!

Re: Seriously...yes my baby will be BIG. =)

My first baby they thought was going to be small...but she was 7lbs 8 oz....Then the doozy came with my son....9lbs 10oz. Totally natural birth...and he came after less than 4.5 hours of labor and 15 minutes of pushing!

It drives me crazy how people make such a big deal about the size of babies...although my daughter was a typical size, she grew fast and I constantly heard about how BIG she was....like that makes them any less a baby.

Now I have a 3 month old linebacker and I am always hearing about it!

I LOVE BIG BABIES

I have had 9 call today LOL! I like being thought of but dang some are really pushing me to go to the hospital.I am pushing 42 weeks.

Let family know that you know someone (well, sorta ) that had a 10.14 baby in 1 hour and 31 minutes and three pushes.Totally natural, in a hotel room and it was her easiest birth (I am clinging to the hope that since my last almost 42 weeker was so easy this one will be too )
