If I were a full-time 'sposie user, I would expect to spend $20 every two weeks (I think it is) my child is in diapers. I do find their estimate on wipe costs wrong, though... And I use a ton of Pampers Sensitive Skin wipes (more expensive). I certainly do not spend anywhere near $100/month on wipes. LOL

Yeah, $100 is excessive. I'm not sure I'd use that much in wipes even if I was buying premium cloth wipes and throwing them away! LOL

By the way, I got some sherpa/flannel wipes from Snap-Ez and they are dreamy!

No way do wipes cost that much...even the premium ones aren't but about $7 a refill pack, if I remember correctly, it has been a while since I bought any. If you are using that many wipes a week, you need to learn to clean that bottom more efficiently!! lol...I would think sposies would be more than $2K by potty training, but when I add it up, 3 years (156 weeks) x $12 a week (for premium dipes if you don't buy in bulk) is $1872...of course we have 9.75% sales tax here, so that would add on $183 in taxes...plus newborns use more than a pack a week...but still, I guess their estimate is pretty close on the dipes, but WAY off on the wipes.

Cool to be mentioned, though!

i had two in sposies for awhile and bought a box of wipes every month and usually had some left over. that box only cost me about $15 i think. so yes WAY off on the wipes. maybe they mistyped something?

okay so i read the article! i think that maybe there was a typo, or it just wasn't written well. possibly they meant that between the diapers and wipes it could add $100?

Re: How kool! Mainstream mentions cloth diapers!(MSN)

I figured it out for my household before. My kids are fully trained by 2 years 3 monts so I went by that. We use Huggies or Pampers (depends on if it's a boy or girl) and bought one case a month at Costco (already saving money) for $30 and averaged buying one pkg. a month because we ran out of the case ($10). So there is $40 a month in diapers. Wipes we bought a case each month for $15. So for us it is $55 a month X 27 months = $1485 and we also used cloth wipes and shoped at a money saving warehouse for both dipes and wipes. Plus you figure in all the rash creams, I'd say for us since we could only use prescription at $10 a pop, $100. Plus at least 4 dr.'s appt copays ($10 each shot) for rash related issues, $40. So our total is $1625 for 2 years 3 months, not including all the headache!!

Very cool that they were mentioned! I think $2000 is about right IF you use generic sposies. Otherwise, it'd be more than that. Though $100 for wipes is a LOT.

When I used sposies I used Sam's generics and got a huge box for $20, hence me saying the $2000 would be right in that case.

Still, even with that being the case I save SO much money with cloth. Plus, my girls don't get diaper rash in the cloth like they do sposies!

Re: How kool! Mainstream mentions cloth diapers!(MSN)

When PG with #2, at the m/w's office I was reading through a Pregnancy magazine, and there was a top 10 list of things mother's to be HAD to have...do you know what the top #1 was?

2 dozen diaper service quality cloth diapers and 6-8 covers!!!!

then it said...or disposable newborn diapers.

I'm glad to hear the cd'ing is making a come back. I think the fact that people are so about cd's is the lack of education and knowledge about them! Once people actually see them..then are like..WOW..those are COOL!
