Re: Yarn lovers, why so little interest in MM yarn??

I didn't read all the responses but i remember when MM was THE yarn to buy. It's still uber gorgeous but you know how trends are.

Just so you can drool a bit, here is a pair of shorties that Jeannie at Quintessential Baby knit up in Gwion for me. I can't recall if it is on Targhee or not, but if it is, I MUST have more of it, that stuff rocks!

I am getting in on a coop myself and cannot wait to get the stuff!!!

I don't even knit but I drool a LOT over her yarn. That sea star is fantastic! I'd love to see that knit up.

Re: Yarn lovers, why so little interest in MM yarn??

I do think the yarns are very pretty, but outside of a coop, I really can't afford it. With still have a relatively new WAHM business, I can't invest a whole lot in it without knowing the stuff is going to sell at a high enough price to at least get back the money that I spent on the yarn, let alone a little labor costs. I'm allergic to wool, so I have to wear gloves to crochet with it, and I'm just started to test and see if my boys are, or if they can wear it at least.

I wonder also if price is the issue- I will pay a lot for something like targhee b/c it is an expensive base... but personally i am not really interested in paying $22.50 for a skein of 3ply Purewool- i mean I love how soft it is but it does pill a lot... I would have to REALLY love the colorway (and have an infant )
I feel the same way about some of the yarns, but I always love to go look and over the colorways. I always mean to buy some, but am out of pp before I get to it

Re: Yarn lovers, why so little interest in MM yarn??

I LOOOVE MM yarns and am always looking at them, but since I usually buy 2 skeins at a time, I just can't bring myself to spend the $20 something a skein. I have been tempted though. And shoot!! I just read that shipping is included in the price?!!!?? I did not KNOW that!! Darn.. I have put myself on yarn probation though and absolutely cannot buy another single skein. no no no.

Somebody mentioned Hunter's Moon - I believe that's the sample they sent me with my MM OS pattern. I tossed the receipt so now I can't remember. It's very yummy though.

About purewool - I just bought the motherload of it to make the shipping cost worth it. lol! I've heard it's pilly... hope it's not too bad after shaving a couple times because I have 12 skeins of it. Ha! Good thing I have a few months until the baby is here.

And I've stopped reading this thread because I am SO tempted to buy some now that I know shipping is included. Darn.

I love her yarn colorways. Just wish there was a bit more girly there.
