When did you start solids? Why?

I would try getting the book "Super Baby Food" and making your own cereal from the "super porridge" recipes instead of buying baby food cereal. Its easy and cheaper and you know EXACTLY what is going into your baby's body.

with my son we tried at 4 months but he wanted nothing to do with it until he was about 7.5 months and could self-feed finger foods. My son was and still is at the top of the charts, so he was not starving.

My dd will be 9 months on Thursday and she has had about 10 kernels of rice and about 1/4 (if that) of a green bean. We are delaying solids with her due to food allergies. She is at the bottom of the charts but I am small and her allergies delayed her growth (but she does have chub, so she's not starving)

This is what we did. Nikolas started some solids around 10 months jsut after I got pregnant but he didn't really start eating any "meals" until about a year and we skipped all "baby food" and went straight to bananas, avocado, peas, pears...just all mashed up.

He is still nursing too.
