how do you wash wool?

how do you wash wool that has gotten dirty outside? my dd likes to play in the dirt and slide and swing and her regular clothes get dirty so i'm sure any wool that i may get in the future would be too.
should i even get wool? i don't want to have something that she can't play in or that i'd have to strip off of her before she walks outside.

also, how do you keep wool from shrinking?

Re: how do you wash wool?

The Knitted wool is harder to get dirt out of. I like to use wool flannel, interlock or jersey when we play outside.

It comes out, but you have to soak it alittle longer

As long as the water isn't too hot it won't shrink. It should be warm and you don't want to wash it in the washing machine unless the maker says it's ok
