Question for WAHMs????

I have contacted Fabrite and they will laminate for me. My question is, should I go with the 1ml or 2ml PUL? Which do you prefer and why? I am very new to making dipes, but I figure since I have a good sewing machine, why not save myself money and sell off my FBs.

Thanks

Re: Question for WAHMs????

2 mil, the 1 mil is not as sturdy, especially for non single color PUL.

Re: Question for WAHMs????

So would the 2mil be less likely to leak with prints than 1mil?

Re: Question for WAHMs????

1 mil is easiest to sew and I know ALOT of WAHMs use it I've seen studies on them and there really wasn't any difference. HTH It really doesn't matter to me.

Re: Question for WAHMs????

it's not the laminate that leaks, it's the cotton print material that has a tendency to leak/wick, where the poly doesn't. I don't kow what pricing you have but I would suggest thinking of joining a coop like cradled in cloth. They have DIY laminate every couple of months and the price goes down with everyone getting together.

Re: Question for WAHMs????

The pricing is decent. It is cheaper than buying PUL and doing a hidden layer and Fabrite is not far from my house, but I do want something that isnt super leaky.

What do you think would be better?
Hidden layer of PUL or laminated prints?

I have several different WAHM pockets with hidden PUL and they leak. I am not sure why though?

Re: Question for WAHMs????

I sent in all cotton prints as I couldn't find polyester that I liked.

We are doing 2 mil in the co-op I joined with. It's $3-4/yd to have it laminated and the more yds we have the cheaper it is and that is why co-ops/yahoo groups are best.

Most printed pul diapers you see are cotton prints and I've never had wicking with them. I had a darth vader diaper made by WWB and I found the same exact fabric at Walmart and sent it in to be laminated. It never wicked on me when I had the pocket so I figure why not send more in to be laminated? kwim?

If you are using a hidden layer of pul then your outer will be cotton, flannel, or whatever and will fade after washing or get pilly. With cotton pul that can happen to but I still think it holds up longer.

Re: Question for WAHMs????

I always order 2 mil but I SWEAR half the time I order the 2 mil colors, i have at least one color that is not 2 mil, I cannot figure out if it is thinner poy fabric, o thinner laminate.... it bugs me, but nothing i can do.

If you buy cotton prints, you will want to treat the outside with some waterproof spray, reguardless if you get one or 2 mil....

If you need to know price diference, PM me. I just got a new price list...
