Just saying "hi"

I just wanted to jump in and say "hi" We haven't adopted yet, but we are planning to. DH wants our youngest to be 5 so we have a few years to go. I'd do it yesterday if dh was ready We wanted to adopt from Liberia, but now b/c of the Haugue treaty (sp?) that isn't currently an option, I don't think. But my heart is so desperate to bring home some kids!!! So I'm gonna lurk and learn

Re: Just saying "hi"

Welcome! I hope your "Lurking and learning" is good on this forum.
Keep your head up and stay informed is the encouragement I can give. Also, a country does not need to be Hague certified to adopt. Ethiopia is not a Hague country. (correct me if I am wrong).
Good luck! Perhaps your husband will change his mind.

Re: Just saying "hi"

Well, that's great news. One of the organizations we were in contact with had said that as of Dec.31.07 if a country hadn't signed the treaty that you wouldn't be able to get the children through immigration. Maybe I will do some more looking into it ... and harass dh some more We are hoping to adopt grade school or even older kids from Liberia or some other country. That's why dh wants to wait until our kids are older - me, I'm kind of of the mind that an older sibling or two, with some teaching, would be a great addition to our family!

Best of luck on your journey Mama. My beautiful and amazing Ethiopian daughter is currently waiting for her equally beautiful and amazing sister who waits for us in Ethiopia.

Wow! Have you blogged or written about your journey to get them somewhere that I could read it?
