Re: I am just really worried! Fevers up to 104.7!

I know fevers are scary but remember it is NOT considered a fever until 102. Under 102 you should only treat if child is uncomfortable as its the body's way of fighting infection. 104.7 is high keep a close eye on it. I know how scary it is to have a child with high fevers my 4 yr olds fevers are alwayts 104 + his highest is 105.6.

Hope you child feels better soon!

Most of his fevers have been over 102.
Looks like we will be going to the ER today. I don't know what else to do.. he is miserable and getting dehydrated now.

Take him to the ER, mama! I think you have waited and done what you can do long enough already!

Re: I am just really worried! Fevers up to 104.7!

my ds has been to the ER and to the ped twice within the last week for high fevers, rash, etc etc. we FINALLY are fever free this morning (a week later, after 3 different antibiotics, and almost constant tylenol and motrin). we had bloodwork and chest xrays done at ER and repeated again yesterday. turns out my DS has pneumonia (not caught last week on x-ray, but there yesterday), a sinus infection, 2 ear infections, and possibly roseola (sp?) which could cause the rash and high fevers. So right now we are under quarantine due to the possibility of whooping cough (even though he was vaccinated for it)
Remember that YOU are the best advocate for your child. Honestly, no one is going to push for tests, scans, or different treatments unless you do. I argued with the ER doc at 230 AM when he told me that the fever was due to teething and that he was crying because he was hungry. WTH? my DS sleeps through the night and didnt have a fever with his first four teeth...I really think he was mad to be woken up at 230am for what he called a SIMPLE fever...but when I had him check him over we had ear infections and a sinus infection....

I would take him to the ER, today. A Childrens hospital if you have one close enough.

That White count is too high. I wouldn't wait any longer.

Re: I am just really worried! Fevers up to 104.7!

Just an update..
Yesterday he had a seizure and we called the ambulance, he was admitted last night. They have done blood work every 4 hrs and his WBC is still high, and he is also anemic. His chest xray is clear so no pneumonia. His CT scan shows a sinus infection, but the dr doesn't think this is why he's running all these fevers and his levels are so high.. They did a spinal tap on him this morning so we should know by tomorrow morning what that shows. We may need to transfer to children's hospital, for now we are looking at at least 2 more days here though so he can get these IV antibiotics..at least today he hasn't run a fever more than 99.5. Please keep him in your prayers, it's been tough on him going through all these tests.

Oh.. also wanted to say his urine is fine, with the exception that it showed he was dehydrated.. and the dr said he does have both tubes in his ears. I don't know why the family doctor thought one was gone. Hopefully this spinal tap will rule out mennigitis. I took a couple quick snaps of him.. his lips are purple in the one from a grape popsicle..
