Re: Engorged? Help please!
Do you wear underwire? That can cause clogged ducts, pressing against the breast tissue. It really could be a number of things, even not drinking enough water! Just try to rest and always give lo that breast first, the warm water(shower) and massage. Hopefully it will resolve before mastitis

Re: Engorged? Help please!
Nope, I don't wear an underwire. I have a soft shaped cup bra.
Drink a ton of water. Usually about 70oz. per day. Plus soy milk. Thanks everyone for the advice- I sure hope this is resolved soon.

Re: Engorged? Help please!
Try pumping and adjust the position of the pump just a bit. SLIGHT differences in position (when nursing OR pumping) can help. While you're pumping, press and hold BEHIND (more toward your body) the sore area. This will block the duct behind the blockage, and allow the pump to try to pump out the blockage or break it up a bit. Try massaging the area a bit too.

Re: Engorged? Help please!
After seven months of trouble-free bf'ing, I recently had a plugged duct that was caused by a milk blister. Do you see any suspicious white bumps on your nipple? If you do, then the blister isn't allowing the milk to come out of that particular duct and you need to encourage it to break open and drain. I found a simple cure for this problem on Kellymom... Prior to nursing, I soaked my effected breast in a bowl of epsom salts dissolved in hot water and massaged my breast gently. Then I held a hot washcloth on my nipple for a few minutes to soften things up, then I rubbed it vigorously (ouch!). At that point, I immediately went off to nurse my baby on that breast. Within two nursing sessions, the blister had opened and after a full day of going through this routine, the blocked duct had cleared out. I continued for another day, just to make sure everything was draining properly and then I stopped.
Honestly, I still have no idea what caused it. I'm just glad its gone. I hope you find the solution to your situation soon!
