You go mama. It's hard to stand up for what you believe in, even harder when the criticism is coming from the very people who are supposed to support and love you. Or at least shut up and trust you know what's best for your own kid. You're doing a great job and someday that little one will thank you for it.

Aw momma, i feel your pain. I am the *freak* of the family. My kids ALWAYS come first. I was the first in the family to BF so i guess you can imagine! Everyone will find out I cloth diaper this summer, should be fun, not!

My dad and stepmom have learned to keep thier comments to themselves. I have cut them off for thier stupid behavior before. They were terrible parents and KNOW it deep down. Same with hubbys parents. I limit my time with both sets of parents!

What a betrayel from your hubby though. What a freakin jerk! Like wanting to raise your baby is a crutch, grr!

Your story made my heart hurt.
I hate that the people who should be your biggest supporters are being thoughtless enough to make such hurtful comments. Especially when they're comments about one of the absolute best things you can do for your kiddo - whether she's 3 months or 13 months.
Good for you for standing your ground - your little girl is lucky to have such a strong mama!

Wow, mama, I can't even imagine having to put up with comments like that from ILs or strangers, but from your OWN family?! Sounds like they're toxic people who I'd distance myself from.

Mama. Sounds like you should distance yourself from them. They should be there to support you. Even if that means you are still BF at 13 months.
My DD nursed the longest and she nursed for 2 yrs and 2 months. They would have fun with that woudn't they!!
And the hubby......well, he SS mama.

Know that we are here to support you.
You are doing the best that you can for your LO.
And your a great mama for it!!
I can't imagine my mom and sister saying that to me.
Don't let them get you down. Its not worth your time and energy.

jenna, it sounds like your sisters are my sisters! they are terrible with the BFing stuff..
i would distance yourself from them i wish there was more i could advise...

and for your H (not even gonna call him darling!!) i know its hard, but he needs the reality check of the seperation, that is NOT the way to treat your wife, can i kick his behind for ya?? tons of mama!!

Your most important job is to be Gianna's mom and I think you are a wonderful role model for her by standing up to your family on her behalf. My almost 16 mo old DD is still breastfed and she might as well look like a horse coming to a water trough, lol, as far as how elegant it may look to an observer but still so cute and sweet to me. Keep your chin up.
