Likely because iodine is a very serious and life threatening allergy, and is found in many types of seafood. Just because one baby tolerated it earlier doesn't mean it's recommended, KWIM?
Berries are a common allergen but it's likely more because of choking hazards, I would guess.

Re: when can i give her yogurt?

We have been doing yogurt since about 8 months. We started with plain yogurt. My theory on it was, he has been getting dairy products from day one, and had no problems. Plain yogurt isn't much different. We recently started giving him flavors at about 9 months. He loves yogurt!! We both start our morning off with one.

We started yogurt between 6-7 months. DS was on an antibiotic so the ped told me to give it to him to help prevent thrush

Re: when can i give her yogurt?

IMHO the most allergenic foods on that list are egg white, peanuts and shellfish (not ALL fish - shellfish are the ones with iodine). Unless food allergies are prevalent in you or DH's family, I wouldn't be *as* concerned about things such as berries, dairy, etc.

FWIW, I started giving my girls yo baby yogurt (the one with cereal in it) at 8 months. I nursed them until they were 13 mos and didn't introduce any other dairy until after they weaned.

Re: when can i give her yogurt?

i gave my son peanut butter very early because of the allergy with a member of my family. i wanted to give it to him so i could watch very carefully before someone gave him something with nuts with out knowing and not understanding why he was swelling and choking. he was fine thank god! i will be giving sierra berries this summer as we have over 40 blueberry bushes,(pureed of course). and she has already tried some icecream off ours!! HEHE so we will probably try yogurt soon knowing that dairy is not bothering her so far. but we'll go slow

Re: when can i give her yogurt?

blueberries are fine much earlier- they are not considered a berry in the true sense- but are related to the cranberry. I wish I could post the link but I can't remember it and it's been a week or so since I read this.
