Re: Detergents - okay, what after Allen's and Charlies? Who uses reg. detergents?

I use Dawn by itself. It seems to be working fine.

I've been using Sun and switched ALL of our laundry to that (except the baby's which I still use Dreft and will until this bottle is gone) becuase it is so cheap and works great for us. I only use 1/2 as much as a regualr load (we have a high effiency washer, so we only use 1/2 the mfrs. suggestion to begin with) and it works fine for us.

I've used Allen's for 8 1/2 months but I'm not liking it anymore either. I was about to switch to Charlie's so I'm glad to have read this. We've had LOTS of trouble with our FB leaking (though I'm pretty sure it was cause I used a diaper cream - yikes!) but thanks to Dawn they're working now. I scrubbed them and they're clean, but I don't think Allen's keeps them "fresh" either. I think I'll try a regular one like Gain next!

I use all and arm and hammer free and clear versions on everything, no problem so far.

I love quixtar products! my mom gets all her toiletries/detergents from there, they rock!

but anyways, like the pp, I use arm&hammer free and have had NO problems. sometimes I add baking soda to the wash just for kicks, but usually I just use 1/2 the recommended amount of the A&H.

i use baking soda every wash, even my normal clothes, it just makes them smell better, and makes the towels fluffier.

I just use reg detergent. I rotate (I mean use one whole box than buy a diff brand) Tide, Kirklands, and Sun to avoid buildup. That's all! Works great!

Also, beware of Dreft it has fabric softners that can reduce your diapers absorbancy. As far as an experienced mom opinion goes.....my Mom CD'd me and my sister and is still trying to talk me into a wet pail of Biz water to soak them in all the time and just using Gerber pull on pants! Everyone has there own opinion.

I did a lot of "researching" and have concluded to stay away from bleaches and fabric softners as much as possible, use minimal deterget, 2 rinses, and change detergents often to help prevent buiild up. Everyone has there own system, though.
