Solid foods question??

My DD is a little over 7 months, she is BF, and has been eating solids since right after New Years. She is in the process of cutting her first tooth (it has been about a week now) and it is not fully out yet. Since she started cutting the tooth she really hasnt wanted to eat any solid food at all. She is nursing perfectly fine and more than usual because she isnt eating any solids, she definitely is not loosing weight lol.... Is it normal for her to not want any solid food? What has your experience been?

With which kiddo?

With ods, he was totally uninterested when teething and didn't get interested in solids until he was 18 months and had most of his teeth in and could eat our food.

With younger ds, he loves to chomp things when his teeth come in. It really varies from baby to baby. Her mouth might be hurting and could cause her to turn away from solids for now.

Re: Solid foods question??

It's totally normal

Babies don't need solids for nutrition until after the first year. EBF babies are totally healthy, momma's milk is all they need Solids at this age are for experiencing different textures and tastes. It helps them learn, thats about it.

So just relax. She is getting all she needs from you, and once her discomfort from teething subsides, I'm sure she'll be eating more. Continue to offer her what you have been and if she doesn't want it, follow her lead. She'll take it when she is ready.
