Lightbulb Favorite Wool Wash and How?

What is your favorite wool wash? (scent and type - bar, balm, etc) How do you wash your wool? (rub a wool wash bar in water and soak, or other method like balm, etc?)

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

I'm still a newbie to wool but I'm loving using a bar.
I got mine from Lime Light Boutique but her site doesn't seem to be working and her hyena store isn't up and running either.

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

I have both Eucalan wool wash and a bar from Ignite the Senses. I prefer the bar to the liquid wash. I like to get different scents.

As for the lanolin, I have spray and balm. The spray is creamsicle from Bubble Butt Boutique and the balm is from ITS.

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

We have a Sudz N Dudz bar that seems to work well. We use that with warm water in sink. I don't really understand about rinsing yet, though. It's so confusing! I need to go back and read if you're supposed to rinse the Sudz N Dudz and then lanolize, or what. I think lots of wool washes have some lanolin in them, but you need to occassionally do a heavier treatment with pure lanolin. Anyways, Sudz N Dudz is highly recommended on Diaper Pin. I lanolize with my leftover lanolin from early breastfeeding days (Lansinoh or Medela).

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

so far i have tried NE wool wash/bar/lanolin, ITS sheep bar/balm and Sudz and Dudz bar and wash.

my fav out of all 3 are ITS sheep bar and balm...for liquid wash i like NE it seems like it has a lot of lanolin in it!

my wash routine is (unless it got visible dirt/food/poop then i use a bar):

warm lukewarm water and fill sink
add recommend amount of wool wash
add wool inside out
work wash into wool by gently squeezing
let sit for 20+min
then i gently squeeze the water out and lay in a towel, wrap it up and squeeze again.
hang over shower to dry

as for rinisng i NEVER do it bc then you are taking the lanolin right out of it.

i add ITS sheep balm when its dry by rubbing it into my fingers then working it into the wool (inside out 1st).

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

I have used Sudz 'n Dudz bars, Naturally Luxe WOW bars, and Northern Essence liquid wash. They're all pretty easy to use. Here's how I do it:

Rinse wool item with lukewarm or cool water (NEVER HOT!) to remove any excess urine (nighttime wool typically needs this more than daytime)

Fill sink/wash bucket with lukewarm water and either lather bar and squeeze suds into wool or pour liquid wash into the water and swirl to mix. Put wool item in the water and squeeze it a couple more times to make sure the lanolin mixture is distributed evenly.

Let it soak for about 15 minutes (longer is fine)

Squeeze it out gently and lay in a towel. Roll the towel up from one end with the wool in it to squeeze out excess water.

Lay on the rack to dry.

If you rinse, you are rinsing the lanolin out, as PP said. You can add extra lanolin if needed when the item is either wet or dry. I like sudz n dudz lanolin balm, it is smooth and easy to rub on.

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

So do most people use a wool wash (liquid or bar) and then put some extra lanolin spray or balm on as well? I have a wool wash bar from ITS and got a sample of lanolin balm from them but never used that, just the bar, but I think I need to add the balm to my rountine too!

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

I use a wool wash bar to wash, then when the wool is dry I use the lanolin balm

Re: Favorite Wool Wash and How?

I like Euclan Lavendar Wool wash. I bought it from eBay. It's so easy to use and smells awesome!

I just fill up my sink in my bathroom with lukewarm water, and put a little of the wool wash under the running water. I let whatever I am washing soak 15-30 minutes, depending on how badly it needs to be washed, then I squeeze the water out, and roll it in a towel to get the rst of the water out. No rinsing required.

I have read that wool wash bars can run the color out of stuff, so I opted for liquid wool wash
