Kitchen Pans

I recently saw the MSNBC Green Vs. Brown family specials. After seeing the Teflon chemicals results I decided to switch pans. I was at SAMS and saw a Wolfgang Puck Stainless Steel 18 pc set for $99. Has anyone used these? If so can you tell my your opinions. Also inform me of any extra steps to take. Also is Stainless Steel pans safe? Or other there other concerns for those?

Re: Kitchen Pans

I just cooked with them tonight. Very easy clean up. I just wanted to make sure they were safe to. Im never sure anymore. I think I buy the right think and then I turn around and read somthing about it being toxic. But I did find many articles saying they are actually the safest pans out there.

Looks like you made a good buy! I've seen those pans being sold individually in stores, and they strike me as very good quality. I like the nice heavy bottoms for heat circulation. My MIL got me a really great set of similar quality 13 years ago before I got married and it's still going strong.

Re: Kitchen Pans

I have tephlon ( really nice Calphalon set) and I have a really nice set of Cast Iron pans ( one 6 and one 10 ) I have the cast iron SOOO PERFECTLY seasoned I would rather use it than my tephlon. it cleans up easier too most of the time.

Re: Kitchen Pans

I LOVE my cast iron pan! It was a hand-me-down from my mom when I went to college (too many years ago to admit when). It's my standby for nonstick, too.

I have a couple of the wolfgang puck pans that I've picked up and I really like them - they clean up great and are easy to cook in. I use those and my Calphalon - the non-teflon version. I don't use teflon anything, never have. I'd rather have to put butter in a pan and be responsible for the fat intake than a chemical intake from teflon. blech...

I think you got a great deal on the set. I have yet to hear anything negative about stainless steel.

We got my mom this set a few years ago and she really likes it. I have cooked with it too and it is great with easy clean up. I think you will like them more and more as you continue to cook with them. Good choice!

Re: Kitchen Pans

Thanks for all the great feedback. I have cooked some relatively easy stuff. I have yet to try to cook eggs or anything really sticky. They do clean up nice!! I have cooked some veggie burgers though. They didnt stick at all!!!
