Rebecca or Rebekah?

I don't even correct people anymore when they misspell my name (which is, hmm, every single stinking time ). I wish wish wish wish wish my parents had just chosen simple, traditional Jessica.

I don't think it's an odd spelling of a regular name at all--it's the spelling used in the Old Testament. In the name rankings, Rebecca comes up as 105 in 2007, while Rebekah was 309. So, Rebecca is the more commonly used spelling. But both seem to be popular names. ( I love using the Baby Name Wizard to find out this kind of info.)

Oh, and my brother's ex-wife's legal name was Rebecca, but she chose to spell it Rebekah --as a nickname I guess? She was an odd bird, but I think the name is beautiful.

I'm actually tossing around that name if we're blessed with #4 and I LOVE the spelling Rebekah. To me it's more traditional because it's an older name Now I've been Sara without an h my whole life and I LOVED it that it was different...my husband is Erik with a "k" and he loved it too..so it really depends on what her personality will be and there's no way to know that yet. (We also named our daughters Megan (without an h) and Kristin (without an e)) so maybe you don't want to take my opinion too seriously but I would go with Rebekah.

My husband is of Norwegian descent. He'd argue that there is no other spelling of Erik.

I love how Rebekah looks. They are both common spellings, so go with which ever you prefer. DD will personalize it somehow when she's older.

We just had a baby in May...Rebekah. I picked that spelling to go with our two boys Biblical names.

I am Rebecca, but I always liked the other spelling. I spell my nickname Becci and it really confuses people sometimes, but I couldn't see spelling it Becky since I don't have a "K" in my name.

Since you have already used the traditional spellings for your other children, I would stick with "cca"
