MORE nightwaking at 3 mos but not hungry?

DS has started waking more and more times a night He's NEVER done that! The thing is, he's not hungry. He's always woken up once to eat which is fine, but this is getting out of hand... He wakes around 12, I can usually get him to go back to sleep by either taking him to bed with me (which I don't like to do), and last night I just patted his butt and then turned the vibrator on in his bassinet. Then he wakes around 2 or 3 to eat. then he wakes around 5 or so and goes back to sleep if I put him in bed with me. I'm not getting any sleep DD is a VERY wild child and gives me no rest during the day...I'm at my wits end here.

When I get his monitor I have to put him in his own room because he's out grown the bassinet, but I'm afraid I'll never get him to sleep without bringing him to bed! DH wants to let him cry it out....but when we did it with dd #1 she was ff, #2 she was waking purely out of habit, and #3 she never really cried, just woke up and talked or fussed her self back to sleep, and #4 she was over 4 months old. I feel like it's not a good option with ds since he's bfed and so little.
What can I do?

My best suggestion at this point - ride it out.

Babies that young still have the 'need' to wake. Their circadian cycles/rythym aren't fullly set yet. Can you move the bed into your room, next to your bed as a sort of compromise - that way you're not actually having to get up or co sleep?

Here's an article that discusses night waking a little more

Re: MORE nightwaking at 3 mos but not hungry?

I think actually putting him in his own room will help us out. I'm wondering if he's really fully awake or just restless when he "wakes up". During his naps in the day time he frequently wakes up and cries out for about 30 secs or a min and then goes right back to sleep. Perhaps this is what he's doing at night but it wakes me up so I think I have to do something about it. Maybe I'm making it worse and teaching him to keep doing it?? Perhaps if it took me longer to get to him (like 30 secs) I'd find that he's not really truly awake...I dunno

I need a nap...

And no...DH will NOT have his crib in our room

I did also wonder if it's a milestone thing since he's working on rolling over. Perhaps. I don't mind if he wakes to eat- that's perfectly ok and normal I know...it's the waking when he's just waking that's bothering me...

It could be milestone related or it could be the 3 month growth spurt. They were biggies in our house. Have you tried nursing to see if he will nurse? He may be hungry.

I was told that until about 1 year of age a breastfed baby will wake up several times a night to eat/ need comfort and that it is best to give them what they want until the age of 1 because they need their food/mommy.

Re: MORE nightwaking at 3 mos but not hungry?

I know about the growth spurt thing, but this isn't it. Last night was much better also- back to one time a night to eat. I'm sure tonight will be awful as I have to work tomorrow DS's latch has always been awful but is pretty good most of the time now when he's awake....BUT if I try to feed him when he's not hungry he turns me into hamburger...THAT'S how I know he's not hungry when he's been waking- I've tried to feed him. I also can't dream feed him at night because the same thing happens Also- he's been stretching his feedings out during the day from 2 hours to 3...I've been waiting and waiting for the growth spurt to come, but so far nothing.
