Unhappy 5 1/2 mos & BF less.

Reese is 5 1/2 months and she is eating less and less. Mainly due to just being so interesting in what she hears, sees or thinks she is missing. I still EBF her every 2 hours during the day (she sleeps like 10 -11 hours at night). Her sessions are like 10 - 15 minutes. Could that be enough????

I am worried my supply will decrease and then I will start food at the end of the month and she will be done w/ BF! It will break my heart. I love to BF!

Any ideas? Earmuffs?

My dd is almost 4 months, and she is pretty much the same way, except she is finished in about 6 or 7 minutes, lol! And that's both sides. They will eat if they're hungry. My other 2 were the same way. They just get really efficient as they get older. Also, neither were very interested in "real" food until they were about 9 months old, so were pretty much EBF until then. Remember, food is just for practice when they turn 6 months old, it's not how they get all of their nutrients. JMO.

That is plenty momma. My 7 month old eats every 1-3 hours and only eats for 5-10 minutes at a time and he is 22 lbs! No baby food either.

Yep we're doing that here too. My son will be 4 months old tomorrow and he nursed maybe 10 minutes total on both breasts and then doesn't eat again for another 2-3 hours and sleeps almost 8 hours straight at night. But he's having plenty of wet dipes and is gaining weight so I'm not worried.

She's probably just gotten to an age where she is a more efficient eater! No worries! Be sure to limit solids when you start and breastfeed before offering them (just give a little solids, once a day at first... that way breastfeeding stays primary). Sounds like you're doing perfect!

Totally normal. They are very proficcient(sp?) at this age and can finish emptying the breast in 5-10 minutes. Anything after that is non nutritive. Just follow her cues and you'll be fine!

Re: 5 1/2 mos & BF less.

As long as she is having sufficient wet diapers, and pooping normally (her normal, not someone elses baby's normal), is alert and content, and hitting mile stones you're fine. If she isn't fussy and comes off the breast satisfied, and is peeing you're pretty much good to go.

I totally agree with the pp's!! i've always had oversupply and my dd's didn't take more than 15 min every time..
