Strawberries?

I've read that you shouldn't give strawberries until 1 year of age. When did you introduce them? Sean will be 1 in 13 days. Close enough or better to wait?

Re: Strawberries?

I would go ahead and try a couple, but make sure they are organic. The reason they dont want them introduced early is because of the pesticide used. Strawberries have the most pesticide out of any food.

I didn't know that. We'll have to go see if they have any at the farmer's market tomorrow. Thanks!

Re: Strawberries?

actually, it is also a high allergen this is taken from the wholesome baby food site http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/forbiddenbabyfood.htm "**Strawberries Please note that the current recommendation for introducing strawberries is after a baby has reached 12 months of age. Commercial Stage 2 baby foods contain strawberries because it is said that processing strawberries at such a high temperature "kills" the protein that causes the allergic response. Visit our Strawberry page to learn more!"
Blueberries and cranberries are the only berries recommended before 1 year

I personally would do it. I love strawberries.
I heard that now "they" want you to wait 3 years before giving strawberries and peanut butter. There's no way.
I just need to say that I also gotta have more cowbell!

My dr. just told us that we are in the clear for strawberries (and peanut butter actually) at the 12 month appt.

I have a fever...and the only prescription is more cowbell
