Re: Strawberries?

DS is almost 14 months and I still haven't given them to him...There are no allergies in the family but I think I just worry too much

Re: Strawberries?

As long as their are no known allergies in your family to berries I would say it should be perfectly fine. Just feed a small amount and watch for symptoms of a reaction.

I have a friend whos baby is 8 months old and nothing is off limits to her. She has given her berries, peanut butter, seafood etc. She doesnt buy into the whole dont give them this or that thing.

I have another friend whos kid is almost 11months and she has given her son berries as well. Make a judgement call and if you are fine with it go right ahead! I bet he will like them

Personally we dont do berries except blue, no honey and no PB but will on the berries in the next week or 2! the next time i go to the store in fact..lol

Re: Strawberries?

I was a "baaad mommy" and gave my DD a frozen strawberry in her food net for teething at about 6mos. It took me a few days of hard thinking after another mom told me it was her "secret" to helping her DS out with his teething. I'd give her one a day, then skip a few and not over do it. It helped her so much, she had fun eating it, and I kept a sharp eye on her! I have a lot of food allergies and sensitivities so I knew I was taking a little risk but, I know I'm ok with strawberries so I took the leap. Now I still do that but, I let her have fresh organic strawberries. I slice the seeds off the sides and dice the berry. I let her have one tops with her lunch or breakfast, every few days. She gobbles them up! Thats the only berry I let her have.

I've heard that about raisins too! "Pesticide pellets". I cant see DD having those in the near future LOL

Re: Strawberries?

i didnt know that strawberries were an alergy food until recently. Jackson's been eating them (freeze dried and fresh) since about 10 months.

But yeah, berries we always always buy organic.... even if we dont get other organic fruits/veggies, berries we dont buy unless they have organic

It's one of the new styles for summer! I loooove it! gdiaper.com They have pink for girls (like DD's) and blue for boys...they run 18.99, 2 bucks more than the solid prints but, I can totally justify it since I think they are so dang cute!
