I think I may have struck gold.
I went to get a massage today from the therapist I have used for about 2 years. I really like and trust her, but I don't go as often as I like (money!). While I was there, she said she is working on getting her massage doula license. She has done all the pregnancy massage stuff, she just has to get a certain number of labor/deliveries. She said she would be mine for free! I talked to DH and he says it is fine. She said that she would come and go as I asked, she's a grandmother and was present for all 7 of her grandchildren's births. I do think I would want her to go when Anne Claire is actually getting here, as we want to share that alone. In fact, the only catch I see is that we just asked our mothers not to be in the room just two weeks ago (after telling them they could) and they were super understanding. I think they would be understanding about this too, but want to handle it so they don't get their feelings hurt.

Oh that is awesome!!! I paid like 850 bucks for my doula with DS.. This time I cant afford it, but I have like 4 friends being in the room as acting doula LOL..
Massage sooo sounds nice right now... I would explain to them that she is a "employee" of you guys, not there for birth.. |

Re: I think I may have struck gold.
Good idea with the "employee" Even though she said she wouldn't charge us, I still want to pay her something (maybe a small gift too) I can't afford a lot (or I would have hired a doula already). What are your thoughts?

Re: I think I may have struck gold.
First off - lower back massage during pushing phase is how I kept my sanity - so I wouldn't kick her out too early - you might really really really need her!
Second - maybe some cool birth art as a gift? Gwen |
