Boiling Prefolds to Prep
My Orange and Yellow Plus/Yellow GMD pf's will be delivered today. I need to prep them for dying and embellishing. Most are UBIPF but I did get a few CPF's too.
I would like to try boiling them to cut down on the number of washes I would have to do. Can anyone tell me how long to boil? Should I leave plenty of room in the pot or can I put more in? How many times will they need to be washed after boiling? Remember I'm asking for BOTH IPF's and CPF's. Thanks so much! |

Re: Boiling Prefolds to Prep
I boil my UBIPF's with great success. I got a stock pot and boiled 3 PF's at a time since they bubbe over a lot. I boiled the water first and then added the PF's and let them boil for 30 min. Then I washed them as usual and voila...prepped PF's with half the work.
![]() I've done this twice now and won't be wasting time washing them 6+ times anymore. I'm all about boiling them now.

Re: Boiling Prefolds to Prep
Anyone ever tried this with adding the boiling water to the washing machine instead of stock pots? I'm trying it now... figure it can't hurt... dumping 3 stock pots of boiling water into a hot load (small setting for the washer water) then agitating for 15 min or so, spinning it out, and do it again... Then, since I have regular dirties to wash (only 1 days worth, I normally wash at 3 days) I'm going to dump those in there and do a hot load like normal... I wonder how it will turn out.
If it doesn't do the job, i'll just boil in stock pots tomorrow lol...
